In August 2018, with the help of her father, the V\Ills\Bro\ Daniel Fort 33°, member of the Respectable Lodge of the French Federation of our Order Jean Lamour N° 1457, in the Orient of Nancy, S\ Christine Fort-Hilcenko from Lodge International Concord N° 977 went to meet the B. ·. and S.·. of Lodge Singidunum-Istok N° 1899, in the East of Belgrade, Serbia in order to initiate a common mutual aid project and solicit their support for the creation of a charity, The Raymond Nicolet Trust, with the aim of helping the children of Serbia by supporting the educational system. Ills\Bro\ Ljubomir Ivanov 30°, who is the founder of this lodge, was present. The B.·. and S.·. from Belgrade were very enthusiastic and offered to be the pillar of the team which will be positioned in Belgrade, Serbia, supported by other B.·. and S.·. such as B\ Vidojko Jović from the Serbian Academy of Sciences in Belgrade, S\ Gorana Sipetić, S\ Biljana Kordić, S\ Ljubica Bila and B\ Aleksander Popović.
The charity is named after a very generous man, the V\Ills\Bro\Raymond Nicolet 33°, member of the Respectable Lodge Jean Lamour N° 1457, in the Orient of Nancy, who left for the Eternal Grand Lodge on May 18th 2017, so that his memory stays always in’ our hearts and to give these children hope for a better future. The charity was officially registered by S\ Christine Fort-Hilcenko in October 2018 with the help of S\ Florence Bachelard-Bakal, co-founding member and also member of Lodge International Concord No 977.The London-based charity aims to improve the current education standard for children in Serbia through financial support, teacher training, scholarships and student exchanges between schools in Serbia, England and France, and between Serbian and British Universities.The Raymond Nicolet Trust also aims to provide assistance to students by mentoring them and offering them new opportunities, in particular by strengthening relations and exchanges with national and international schools, colleges or Tutors.
Its various teams are already spread over six countries (France, England, Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria, Canada) and bring together academics, scientists, teachers, marketing consultants, as well as personalities from sport and politics, such as the Franco-Serbian violinist Nemanja Radulović, the Serbian pianist Ljubica Stojanović, the French pianist Patrick Hemmerlé, the Serbian football players Nemanja Matić and Aleksandar Mitrović, Professor Sir John Ernest Walker, winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1997, or the Serbian opera singer Marija Jelić. Christine's vision is not only to raise funds to help schools, but also to raise awareness of the current economic situation in Serbia and of the wounds and discomforts left by the recent war. “Our charity is still young and growing,” explains S\ Christine Fort-Hilcenko. “But our ambition is to ensure that children's right and access to education as described in Articles 28 and 29 of the United Nations' International Convention on the Children Rights are ensured under conditions and environments similar to those in the rest of Europe.”
Since its creation, actions follow and multiply. Other members of the British Federation joined its ranks such as B\ Fiaz Mir and S\ Monika Okreglicka-Mazur from Lodge International Concord N° 977, as well as B\ Ardjuna Seghers and S\ Aamna Seghers of Lodge St Francis N° 817.For her actions and efforts to date, Christine was selected as a finalist at the 21st Century Icon Awards ceremony in the philanthropy category which took place in London in September 2019.Christine has returned to Serbia several times to visit the Serbian Lodge associated with the project, and to meet representatives of the French Embassy in Belgrade and of the French Institute in order to set up school exchanges between one of the schools of Serbia and a school in Nancy.To raise funds, Ills\Bro\Ljubomir Ivanov 30° and S\ Svetlana Soković, members of the Respectable Lodge Singidunum-Istok No 1899 in the East of Belgrade, donated watercolour paintings, and the owner of a London-based art gallery another 120 paintings. Mrs. Mary Radenković, founder of the London fashion house Lavishly Appointed and Mrs. Natasha Davidov, founder of the jewelry house Davidov London Jewelry joined this vast movement of generosity.The association also organized 3 shipments of over 4 tons of books, clothes and toys to five schools in Serbia. To date, the association has raised more than £30,000 to fund projects in different schools in Serbia. F\ et des S.·. S\ de la Loge pionnière « Singidunum-Istok Lodge » N° 1899, à l’Orient de Belgrade, Serbie afin d’initier un projet commun d'entraide et solliciter leur soutien pour la création d'une association caritative The Raymond Nicolet Trust, dans le but d'aider les enfants de Serbie par une aide au système éducatif. The Raymond Nicolet Trust a également pour objectif d'apporter une assistance aux étudiants en les encadrant et en leur offrant de nouvelles opportunités, en particulier en renforçant les relations et les échanges avec les écoles et les collèges nationaux et internationaux.
Ses différentes équipes se répartissent d'ores et déjà sur six pays : France, Angleterre, Serbie, Grèce, Bulgarie et Canada et réunissent universitaires, scientifiques, enseignants, consultants en marketing, ainsi que des personnalités du sport et de la politique, tels que que le violoniste franco-serbe Nemanja Radulović, la pianiste serbe Ljubica Stojanović, le pianiste francais Patrick Hemmerlé, les joueurs de football serbes Nemanja Matić et Aleksandar Mitrović, le professeur Sir John Ernest Walker, lauréat du prix Nobel de Chimie en 1997, ou la soprano serbe dopéra Marija Jelić.
La vision de Christine n’est pas seulement de lever des fonds pour aider les écoles, mais aussi de faire connaitre la situation économique actuelle de la Serbie et les blessures et malaises qu’a laissé la récente guerre. “Notre association est encore jeune et en plein essor,” nous explique S\ Christine Fort-Hilcenko. “Mais notre ambition est d’assurer que le droit et l’accès des enfants à l’éducation tels qu’ils sont décrits dans les articles 28 et 29 de la Convention Internationale des droits des enfants des Nations Unies soient assurés dans des conditions et environnements similaires à celles du reste de l’Europe.”
Depuis sa creation, les actions se suivent et se multiplient. Pour ses actions et efforts à ce jour, Christine a éte sélectionnée comme finaliste à la cérémonie des “21st Century Icon Awards” dans la catégorie philantropie qui s’est déroulée à Londres en Septembre 2019.
Christine est retournée en Serbie plusieurs fois afin de visiter la Loge-Soeur Serbe associée au projet, et rencontrer des représentants de l’Ambassade de France à Belgrade et de l’Institut Français afin de mettre en place des échanges scolaires entre une de écoles de Serbie et une école de Nancy.
Pour collecter des fonds, F\ Ljubomir Ivanov et S\ Svetlana Soković, membres de la Respectable Loge « Singidunum-Istok Lodge » N° 1899 à l’Orient de Belgrade, ont fait don d’aquarelles, et la propriétaire d’une galerie d’art de 120 toiles. Mme Mary Radenković, fondatrice de la maison de couture londonienne Lavishly Appointed et Mme Natasha Davivov, fondatrice de la maison de bijouterie Davidov London Jewellery se sont jointes à ce vaste mouvement de générosité.
L’association a également livré trois cargaisons de plus de 4 tonnes de livres, vêtements et jouets à cinq écoles en Serbie. A ce jour, l’association a levé plus de 30,000 euros.
